An alumni of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Alex has been fortunate enough to find success in his hometown of Newport Beach through real estate and the diverse opportunities that come from it. His first job out of college was to help transition an up and coming property management company from paper and pencil, to computer software and develop the first real estate rental website of its kind in the area. In 2002, He went to work for one of the largest homebuilders in the country, Shea Homes, where he learned the ins and outs of home building, managing the homebuyers expectations, and delivering a finished product that pleased all parties involved. Alex directly applied the skills he acquired during his time at Shea Homes, buying and flipping a few homes between 2003 and 2005.
In 2005, Alex went to work for Coldwell Banker, Balboa Island as an assistant to a successful agent. It was while at Coldwell Banker that Alex decided to start his own company that focused on more than just "Getting the next deal", but rather focus on the client and their needs, whether it be to sell the property, manage the property, or just find a tenant. In 2007, Alex, along with his brother Aaron, found a niche in servicing vacation rental properties and developed a service company to do just that. After attainaing a CA broker's license, Alex opened Balboa Realty, a full service real estate boutique in the Balboa Village, in 2007.
Aaron Batley holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Claremont Mckenna College (1997) and holds an MBA from RSM Erasmus University in the Netherlands (2006) (www.rsm.nl) Aaron started his real estate career with Investment Development Services (IDS), managing a 1,000,000 sqft commercial portfolio of office, industrial and retail in their San Diego regional office. He has also worked at Pacific Life Insurance Co. as a commercial mortgage servicer where he helped manage their multi-billion dollar construction loan portfolio as well as servicing several CMBS, golf and hotel portfolios.
Aaron is a founding partner of Balboa Realty and Newport Beach Vacation Properties and also owns Bungalow Basics, a linen supply company servicing vacation rentals in Newport Beach. With over 20 years experience in real estate and finance, Aaron is also a licensed CA broker, former Newport Beach Ocean lifeguard and is a Certified Property Manager (CPM) with the Institute of Real Estate management. Artie Dorr began with the Balboa Realty team from its inception handling the leasing and business development for the company. Artie was one of the leading forces behind building and operating the successful local property management firm, BALBOA REALTY. Now, he has partnered with Aaron and Alex Batley to bring to market Newport Beach’s most technologically advanced, client-centered vacation rental management company, NEWPORT BEACH VACATION PROPERTIES. Artie is a licensed CA real estate Broker Lic #01899740, California Certified Residential Manager (CCRM) and holds the Property Manager Certification (PMC) designation.
After college, Artie began to build his financial knowledge by working for a successful asset management team at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. in Newport Beach near Fashion Island. This job fed his hunger to learn more about financial planning, asset relocation, and overall monetary knowledge, and take that knowledge to real estate.
Artie received his real estate salespersons license in 2011 and has been practicing full-time ever since. In 2012, Artie refined his experience by moving up to San Francisco and building on the cornerstones of extensive market knowledge in the property management and leasing segments of Real Estate. During his tenure in SF, he managed the leasing department for one of the largest developments on the Embarcadero.
At the heart of his business model is his passion for working with clients and his unwavering commitment to delivering on their needs and objectives. Artie holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara where he frequently visits. Further activities include volunteering with his local church and maintaining an active status in the Harborlites Toastmasters group. Artie recently got married and now resides in Orange where he is planting roots with his new family.
A proud alumni of University of California, Santa Barbara's Communication program, Annie has extensive experience working in the property management, real estate, digital sales and social media and marketing fields. She studied global communication and photography while studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain and applies those skills while working as the Director of Marketing for Balboa Realty and Newport Beach Vacation Properties.
Born and raised in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Annie brings a unique persepctive from her first job in Maine working for a Property Management Company as the Assistant to the Director of the Residential Division and Accounting Division. Her role here was processing new applications and screening potential tenants by conducting interviews and running credit and criminal checks. Annie worked with low income residential buildings and aheared to all of the rules and regulations by processing annual recertifications of income and assets for residents. It was extremely important to Annie to maintain positive relationships with unit owners by providing all star customer service and open communication.
After graduation from UCSB, Annie starting working at Balboa Realty and Newport Beach Vacation Properties in January 2013 and currently works as the Marketing Director. She is in charge of managing all social media accounts, writing content for our website, blog and e-blasts, creating and promoting specials & campaings, designing digital and direct mail pieces to recruit new owners, market current properties, and sell homes for sale. She helped create, find advertisers, and edit a magazine showcasing over 100 properties. Annie enjoys working with her Balboa Realty and NBVP teammates and establishing relationships with local Newport businesses.
Born and raised in a small town in the Midwest, Angela brings a strong work ethic and an honest approach to each and every client. Angela immediately becomes long-term partners with each one of her clients. Her repeat clients and consistent referrals speak to her ability to make each real estate experience about the individual rather than the transaction. Angela graduated from the University of Iowa and shortly thereafter moved out to Newport Beach to begin opening offices for a start up conference calling company that she helped turn into a global billion dollar entity. Harmony Sparks is a lifelong Southern California resident and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of San Diego. She’s a licensed CPA and left her career at one of the largest accounting firms in the world to follow her passion in real estate. After purchasing her first home in Huntington Beach with her husband Brian, she learned the importance of a great agent and difference it can make. Between growing up on the Balboa Peninsula, raising my family in Newport Heights and living here most of my life, I have intimate knowledge of the Newport Beach area. This is the place I have always loved to call my home.
Julie has been a licensed Realtor since 2001. During that time, Julie has been a seller and buyers agent for residential homes. In addition, Julie has Property Management experience where she managed commercial, industrial, strip malls and HOA’s.
Alex got his start in the mortgage business in 2011. It was around this time that many of his childhood friends were building their families and starting to look for houses. Alex realized there was a career opportunity available to him where he could be challenged mentally while also helping out his friends and family.
He was introduced to the mortgage business by Nick Louis, who as a friend and now mentor, has helped guide him to where he is today. Prior to NAL Financial, Alex worked with the City of Newport Beach as an ocean lifeguard. His job on the beach kept him busy during the summer months while he finished his business degree at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo.
As expected, he is challenged at work daily with fluctuating interest rates, unique client scenarios, and ever-changing market conditions.
