Packing is one of the most dreaded tasks by most people even when it comes to packing for a fun vacation. When it comes time to pack up an entire house many people are totally overwhelmed for good reason. Your entire life has been inside this one space and there are so many memories in the house which can make the packing process very emotional on top of everything else. The last thing you want is for your important items to be totally broken, disorganized and damaged. Minimize the stress of packing with these 5 tips from Balboa Realty, the leaders in Orange County property management and real estate.

Clothing

To keep your clothes organized during a move, keep all of your clothes that are on hangers on them. Slip a plastic bag over the clothes and pop a hole through the top so that the hanger hooks stick out. Use a rubber band to keep the hangers all together. This tip will save you time packing and unpacking because they will already be on hangers ready to be put away. If you have a dresser with clothes inside it you can opt to take them out which will make the dresser much lighter to move or you can keep the clothes inside of it wrap strong plastic wrap around it so the drawers full of clothes won't spill out.

Glasses and Cups

Stop by your local liquor store and they will be glad to help you out with your packing process by giving you wine and beer cardboard boxes with separators to keep your glasses and cups safe. Another way to keep your glassware from breaking or chipping is to add an extra layer of protection with your very own athletic tube socks. Put one glass in one sock and this will give it some extra insulation during the move.

Dishware

Packing up your plates might give you the biggest amount of stress because of how easily they can chip and break. Find a box that is just a little bit bigger than the plates' circumference so that they won't be moving around during the move. First wrap each plate with paper or bubble wrap that will act as a buffer and then place the plates in box sideways. Make sure the box is taped securely so that there's no chance they will fall out.

Jewelry

Bringing a few pieces of jewelry along for vacation can get extremely tangled so when you think about packing up all of it, you know you might be in some serious trouble. For your earrings, grab an egg carton and place a few pairs in each egg cup. Then place some toilet paper on top of the earrings to add some cushion and be sure to tape the box closed. To keep your necklaces from being an aboslute tangled mess you'll need the toilet paper roll. Thread the necklace chain through the roll and fasten it. This will keep your necklaces organized and safe.

Electronics

The cords from all of your electronic devices can quickly become knotted and disorganized. To keep the cords from getting twisted reuse the plastic tabs from bread to keep them in line. Labeling the tabs will become extra helpful when you're unpacking so you can remember which cord corresponds with what electronic device.
